DBT Treatment

Clearview Women’s Center is one of the world’s leading facilities, and the only one of its kind on the West Coast, specializing in treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Our clients receive psychiatric services, small specialized groups, and two or more individual therapy sessions per week. We employ cutting edge, evidence-based treatments that have demonstrated great effectiveness in addressing the unique emotional and psychological needs of our clients.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the cornerstone of Clearview’s BPD treatment program. DBT is a skill-building treatment approach that emphasizes the development of four skill sets:

  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Interpersonal effectiveness
  • Emotion regulation
  • Distress tolerance

Clearview Women’s Center offers one of the most intensive DBT curriculums available anywhere. Women at our residential treatment center or day treatment center participate in five DBT skills training groups per week, five DBT skills application groups, and a minimum of two to three individual DBT sessions with a psychologist or therapist trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Other therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, art therapy, anger management, yoga, exercise, and nutritional counseling.

Additionally, Clearview offers a standard DBT outpatient program, which enables clients to benefit from a long-term treatment experience when possible. Treatment services for families include a DBT education program that teaches family members effective DBT and communication skills at no cost. Individual family and couples’ sessions are also offered.

Our team of DBT therapists has received intensive training by Behavioral Tech, Marsha Linehan’s training institute, or UCLA Harbor Hospital’s DBT training program. All staff members are educated on the Dialectical Behavior Therapy model in order to effectively support patients in their daily practice of these skills. Women at the center are coached and encouraged to practice their DBT skills on a daily basis.

Clearview Women’s Center offers one of the most extensive and flexible continuums of care available. Our DBT programs include residential treatment, intensive day treatment, and outpatient treatment. This enables us to customize a program based on your individual needs.

Our complete continuum of care will enable you to practice your DBT skills in real-life settings with help from our highly trained DBT staff. Our DBT program supports a gradual integration into the family, social, educational, and vocational systems that help to create a balanced life. Clients are able to engage in educational and college programs, volunteer opportunities, employment, and receive vocational testing.

You may enter treatment at the appropriate level of care based on clinical need and the demands of your work and home life. We provide lengths of stay ranging from 30 days to more than six months.
